A Nautical Themed Wedding

Updated: Feb 11, 2019

Today we are taking it all the way back to September 2016 for the amazing wedding of Lauren & Graeme. Their wedding was so unique and effortlessly cool that it is still one of my favourites. I couldn't not share some of the details of this wedding with you. I hope you love it as much as I do!

Lauren & Graeme work onboard a private catamaran and provide charted holidays in the Caribbean (I know, sounds idyllic!) They held a wedding celebration in the UK and picked an unusual venue, Trinity Wharf, to hold their nautical themed wedding. They held a non-traditional commitment ceremony where they did things their own unique way. Graeme didn't want to wear a wedding ring so instead he had a tattoo on his ring finger and Lauren surprised him with a watch to wear as a symbol of their love and commitment to each other. They also ended the ceremony by dropping an anchor together - a very lovely touch!

I just loved Lauren's bridal style - she kept her hair simple with some gypsophila worn in her half up, half down hairstyle. Instead of a dress, Lauren opted for an ivory, gathered silk maxi skirt with a cropped, long sleeved lace top and some nude platform sandals. Her bridesmaids were all in different maxi dresses in varying pastel shades. Their bouquets were simple white gypsophilia.

The Groom wore a blue shirt and chinos, with a navy blazer and dark trainers. The groomsmen all wore white shirts and each wore chinos in varying colours with a coordinating tie. They finished off the look with white Nike trainers. I love these casual, summery outfit choices which clearly reflects the groom's laid back style.

They decorated the venue with a canopy of fairy lights, and an arch of flowers under which they exchanged their own vows. Guests were served a BBQ buffet and there was a candy bar and donut table! The DIY touches didn't end there - they had a DIY photo table with props and cameras, and of course they used Friends Film it and had a DIY wedding video!
